Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann kicked off this weekend in Cavan with QUINN-direct as main sponsor for the 2010 event.
This is the first time since 1954 that the Fleadh has been staged in Cavan, home to QUINN-direct and other QUINN businesses for over 37 years.
"QUINN-direct is delighted to be the key sponsor of the 2010 Fleadh Cheoil Na hÉireann,” said John McDonagh, Private Lines Manager. “It is estimated that the revenue generated from this event could reach €30m with up to quarter of a million visitors visiting the town. This is an opportunity to put Cavan on the map, and we are delighted to help with this in any way we can.”
QUINN-direct opened its first call centre in Cavan in 1996. “We are an Irish company proud of our Irish roots and it is a very natural fit for us to sponsor Ireland's premier Irish festival in a way which will help benefit the local economy.
The Fleadh’s emphasis this year on the themes of peace and the environment are aligned with the QUINN-group’s approach to its business, Mr McDonagh added.
“We actively promote and encourage cross-border interaction, and this is demonstrated by the fact that our businesses are located both north and south of the border. QUINN is also fully committed to the preservation and sustainability of the environment with a plethora of green initiatives including the wind farms in Fermanagh and Cavan.
“We are looking forward to August, as the culmination of many months of preparation, for an eight day extravaganza of Irish music, language, dance, craft and culture.
“We wish competitors and visitors alike an enjoyable experience and we will work in partnership with the Fleadh committee to make this year’s Fleadh a huge success."
